Key highlights

  • Pick by the work you sell: reporting, citations, automation, or weekly replies and posts
  • Localo's Pro 10 is $69 a month for up to 10 profiles and BrightLocal's Grow is $131
  • Semrush Local has no volume discount, so ten profiles cost $300 a month on Base
  • Most consultants pair a tool for the weekly work with a citation specialist

If you manage Google Business Profiles for clients, the best tool depends almost entirely on what your clients pay you to do. Some tools are built for tracking and reporting. Some are built for citations. A few are built for the weekly work of replying to reviews and publishing posts.

This guide compares six options by the job each one does best, with prices at ten client profiles where the vendor publishes them. Prices were checked in October 2026. We make Surfa, which is one of the six, so we've tried to be straight about where each of the others is the better pick.

Quick picks

  • Google Business Profile Manager: best if you have a few clients and want to spend nothing
  • BrightLocal: best for reporting and audits across a growing roster
  • Semrush Local: best for hands-off automation on one or two profiles
  • Whitespark: best for citations and keyword rank tracking
  • Localo: best for a guided, all-in-one tool at a low price for up to 10 profiles
  • Surfa: best if most of your week is review replies and posts across 5 to 20 clients

Google Business Profile Manager

Google's own dashboard is free. You can put client profiles into business groups, share access with teammates instead of passwords, reply to reviews, and publish posts.

Best for: freelancers with a few clients, or anyone not ready to pay for a tool.

Watch out for: everything happens one profile at a time. There's no shared review queue across clients and no client-ready reporting. It costs nothing in money and a lot in hours once you pass a handful of clients. For setting up access the right way, see how to get access to a client's Google Business Profile.

BrightLocal

An all-in-one local SEO platform: rank tracking, audits, citation tracking, review management, and white-label client reports.

Price: for one location, Track is $41, Manage is $54, and Grow is $65 a month. Prices rise in brackets, so six to ten locations on Grow is $131 a month in total. Annual billing is about 25% cheaper.

Best for: agencies and consultants who send branded monthly reports and want one predictable bill.

Watch out for: review management is only on Grow, and prices jump at the edge of each bracket. Going from 10 clients to 11 adds $66 a month on Grow. Full breakdown: BrightLocal pricing.

Semrush Local

A standalone product focused on automation. The Base plan includes AI-generated posts, automatic review replies, automated photo posting, and map rank tracking. Pro adds listing management and review management.

Price: $30 per location on Base and $60 on Pro, per month, billed annually. Ten profiles is $300 or $600 a month.

Best for: one or two profiles you want running on their own, or teams already working inside Semrush.

Watch out for: there's no volume discount, so ten clients cost ten times one. Removing a location doesn't automatically lower the limit you pay for. And if you have healthcare clients, don't let automatic replies post without a person reading them, for the reasons in our dental review guide. Full breakdown: Semrush Local pricing.

Whitespark

A set of separate products. Local Platform protects profiles with change alerts and bulk edits for $1 per location. The Rank Tracker is $14 to $200 a month by keyword volume. The Citation Finder is $33 to $149 a month. Reputation Builder, the review product, is $79 per location.

Best for: citation research, citation building, and keyword rank tracking. Nothing else here matches its citation tools.

Watch out for: there's no post publishing, and review work gets expensive because Reputation Builder is priced per location. Ten clients is around $790 a month at list price. Full breakdown: Whitespark pricing.

Localo

An all-in-one Google Business Profile tool with guided optimization tasks. It includes review management, AI-generated posts and offers you can schedule weeks ahead, rank tracking, and a citations manager. The Pro plans add one dashboard for all your clients and white-label reports.

Price: Single Business is $39 a month for one profile. Pro is priced by profile count: Pro 10 is $69 a month for 2 to 10 profiles, Pro 30 is $149 for 11 to 30, and Pro 60 is $249 for 31 to 60. Paying yearly gets two months free, and there's a 14-day free trial with no card needed.

Best for: freelancers who want a low cost per client and a tool that suggests what to do next on each profile.

Watch out for: each Pro plan manages more profiles than it fully optimizes. Pro 10 covers up to 10 profiles but applies the optimization tools to up to 5 of them, and Pro 30 to up to 15. Check that the split fits your roster.

Surfa

Surfa is built around the recurring work: AI review replies drafted in each client's voice that you approve before they post, GBP posts across your roster, keyword rank tracking, and reporting, all from one dashboard.

Price: Starter is $29 a month for one location, Growth is $99 for three, and Pro is $249 for ten, with extra locations at $20 a month each. Growth and Pro include unlimited AI replies. It's monthly with no contract, after a 14-day free trial.

Best for: freelancers and small agencies whose week is mostly review replies and posts across 5 to 20 clients.

Watch out for: Surfa doesn't do citation research or building, so pair it with Whitespark if citations are part of your service. At ten profiles it costs more than BrightLocal's Grow plan or Localo's Pro 10. Where it earns that is the review work: every reply is drafted in that client's voice and ready for you to approve, so the weekly writing goes faster.

How to choose

Start with what you sell, then look at tools:

  • Reporting and audits are the core of your service: BrightLocal
  • Citations are your bottleneck: Whitespark
  • You want one or two profiles running on their own: Semrush Local
  • Most of your week is replies and posts across a roster: Surfa or Localo. Try both on the same two clients.
  • You have a few clients and no tool budget: Google's own manager

Most consultants end up with two tools: one for the weekly work, and a specialist for citations. Before you commit, work out the cost at your current client count and again at double. That number belongs in your pricing, as we explained in what to charge for GBP management.
